Frequently asked questions

How does iCloud sync work?

If you have enabled iCloud in your iOS settings, your data is automatically synced between all your devices. The data is securely stored in your private iCloud and only you have access to it.

Can I add product photos?

Yes! For each product you can either take a photo or choose one from your photo library. The AI background removal (iOS 17+) can help to automatically cut out the product.

How does the barcode scanner work?

Tap the scan icon and hold the camera over the barcode. The app automatically recognizes the code and, if available, suggests product information from Open Food Facts.

How do I configure notifications?

Open the app settings and configure when you want to be reminded about expiring products (e.g. 3 days before, on the day). You need to allow notifications for Restlos in your iOS settings.

Is my data shared with third parties?

No. Your data stays on your device and optionally in your private iCloud. There are no trackers, no ads and no sharing with third parties. See our privacy policy for details.

Can I quickly adjust quantities?

Yes. In the list view you can swipe right to increase (+) or decrease (-) the quantity. Once it reaches zero, the product is automatically marked as "used up".

What are widgets and how do I add them?

Widgets show you on the Home Screen or Lock Screen which products are about to expire. Long press on the Home Screen, tap the "+" in the top left and search for "Restlos". Then choose the widget size you prefer.

What is the difference between list and grid view?

The list view is compact and ideal for quick quantity changes. The grid view shows larger product images and is more visual when you have many products with photos. You can switch between the views at any time.
